MECAL Wind Farm Services will be present at RenewableUK 2-4 Nov in Glasgow with own booth (BOOTH 73).
RenewableUK is an annual 3-day conference and exhibition hold for the 32nd time this year.
The event features more than 200 speakers and 270 exhibitors.

All the technologies RenewableUK represents are covered, including Onshore Wind, Offshore Wind, Small Wind Systems, and Wave & Tidal energy.

ESBI selects MECAL to Inspect Largest Irish Wind Farm

ESB International has awarded the tender for the End-of-Warranty inspection of its Derrybrien Wind Farm to MECAL Wind Farm Services. MECAL is currently in the process of executing the “Total Turbine Inspections” (TTI) on all units, which is planned for completion in the beginning of November.
With 70 Vestas V52 turbines, Derrybrien WF is the largest wind farm in numbers currently in operation in Ireland. The nominal capacity of 59,5MW makes it the second largest wind power plant (in MW) of Ireland in 2010.

Technology Evaluation

The wind industry is constantly striving to find innovative solutions to improve performance of wind projects.. To satisfy this demand there are a number of new wind turbine models that are finding their way to the market. Some examples from established manufacturers are the Vestas V112, Repower R6M, Siemens SWT 3.6/120, GE 2.5XL or Mitsubishi 2.4MW. At the same time alternatives have been developed by relatively new or unknown players, like BARD, Avantis, E.N.O. Harakosan or Samsung.

Although attractive in many ways, these new brands and/or technologies also increase uncertainty in the financial performance of the investment.
In parallel there is growing demand for wind turbines in non-traditional markets e.g. offshore and countries with as yet little or no wind projects. These new markets can have special requirements in relation to the technology.
